The Field Test Page 27

That was a much easier push than the first one. Did they have those thoughts to begin with, or is it just in for a penny in for a pound.

Loving the detail where their eyes changed color. I went back looking to see if Glimmer, Mermista, or Perfuma’s eye color showed any difference in earlier pages, but it was inconclusive. Clearly Glimmer joining in seems prompted by Adora’s power of suggestion. Beyond that I don’t think we can draw concrete conclusions. Anyone else care to theorize?

It actually does in the 2 page spread earlier, though it’s difficult to see for sure. As for Glimmer, her joining in was in fact not because of Adora’s influence for once, but that might change as we go forward. 😉

How interesting! Your comment on page 22 seemed to imply that Glimmer’s interest was sparked by Adora’s influence, though I’ll admit the comic could be read either way. I checked the spread page, and I can’t see the color change in the eyes, but you’re right it is very hard to tell and I’m happy to take your word on it.

My simple though to explain what I perceived was the idea that some “influence” is more subtle and doesn’t show up in the eyes to explain what seemed inconsistent to me. The impregnation idea requires a more overt overriding of Perfuma and Mermista’s wills so the effect is more pronounced producing a more intense change in eye color. That does not seem what your had intended, and I’m fine being wrong!

I’ve been enjoying these She-Ra comics the most of everything you do, so a new page is always a treat!

The comment then was more just for Adora suddenly remembering that Glimmer was there at all.

It’s hard to see the eye colour change clearly on that spread because the panels with it are pretty small, and Mermista’s eye colour is pretty close to yellow to begin with. It’s more noticeable on Perfuma since her eyes are usually a solid black. You can also see it on Glimmer in the first comic on page 6, along with the yellow glow around the thought bubbles representing Adora’s influence.

I went a lot harder with the effect on this page, straight up making it glow because I kept getting comments from people not understanding what’s going on, so hopefully this makes it a lot more obvious. XD
